Unconditional Love v. Conditional Love
Unconditional love: she came to her name, she greeted her 'owners' as they reached out to pat her. She trusted them - unconditionally. Conditional love (love?): she was no longer small enough to be kept as a 'pet' and is now sitting in their freezer. And they still consider themselves animal lovers, because "she had a good life while she was alive"!!!. In my eyes this does NOT make it OK.

It is really sad, and worse for me (well not actually, worse for the magnificient sentient life that never had a chance) that the 'owners' are my family - I will continue to quiety and pleasantly (while boiling within) state my views in the hope that one day they will change their way of thinking.

That's really sad, it disgusts me how people can eat an animal that they cared for and 'loved', then justify it by saying 'she had a good life'

Would it be OK to murder a two year old infant because 'she had a good life'?

If you really love an animal then you don't send them to be murdered and later consume their flesh.
